Annapurna Base Camp Trek is the great amalgamation of stunning mountain vistas, quaint mountain village and lush forest filled with different floral and faunal species. The trail to ABC traverses spectacular mountain terrain and rich cultural diversity across great spectrum of rural farmlands and warm village.

There are very few treks in Nepal that brings you so close to base camp of 8,000m and 7,000m peaks in such time period while combing different landscapes. The setting of Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m) is spectacular surrounded by the gigantic Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South (7,219m), Machhapucchre (6,993m) and Hiunchuli (6,441m). The sunrise view from Base Camp is awe-inspiring. It is dream come true destination for every backpackers and trekking lovers.

Trekking to Annapurna Base Camp takes 7 to 12 days depending on itinerary and walking hours per day. 11 days ABC trekking itinerary starts from Nayapul (1 ½ hour drive from Pokhara) and takes the route of Poonhill (3,210m), the popular view point in Nepal after Kalapatthar. From Poonhill, the trail descends back to Ghorepani and heads eastward to Chomrong and walk north up to enter into the Modi Khola valley that leads you to the Base Camp.

Annapurna Base Camp Trekking route offers ample time for acclimatization for every trekkers who are reasonably fit and content with long days walking. Annapurna Base Camp Trek is possible to accomplish independently. It is possible to conduct the trek throughout the year however spring and autumn are the best time of the year for trekking. The weather during these seasons are good and so are the views. Teahouse at high altitude remains closed during winter so it is wise to check the availability of accommodation prior embarking for the trek.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport (1,300m/4,265ft)

Day 02: Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara (827m/2700ft) and trek to Ghandruk (1940m/6400ft) – 30 minutes – 5/6 hours trek

Day 03: Ghandruk – Chhomrong (2,170m/7,120ft) – 6 hours trek

Day 04: Chhomrong - Bamboo (2310m/7578ft) – 4/5 hours trek

Day 05: Bamboo – Deurali (3,230m/10,600ft) – 3/4 hours trek

Day 06: Deurali – Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m/13,545ft) via Machhapucchre Base Camp (3,700m/12,135ft) – 5/6 hours trek

Day 07: Annapurna Base Camp – Bamboo – 7/8 hours trek

Day 08: Bamboo – Jhinu Danda (1,760m/5,770ft) – 5/6 hours trek

Day 09: Jhinu Danda – Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara – 6 hours trek/1.5 hour drive

Day 10: Fly from Pokhara – Kathmandu

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport (1,300m/4,265ft)

Upon you arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Alpine Kailash Representative will meet you at arrival gate of airport. He will escort you to your hotel via private vehicle. Today, you will meet your trekking guide, get trek briefing and prepare yourself for trekking. In evening, you will attend welcome dinner organized by Alpine Kailash and stay overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara (827m/2700ft) and trek to Ghandruk (1940m/6400ft) – 30 minutes – 5/6 hours trek

After breakfast, we take an early morning flight to Pokhara, the charming lake city and catch great views of mountain vistas. From Pokhara, we drive to Nayapul (1.5 hour drive) and begin our trek. We trek to Ghandruk via Birethanti – a beautiful village inhabited by Gurung community. We explore Gurung museum at Ghandruk.

Day 03: Ghandruk – Chhomrong (2,170m/7,120ft) – 6 hours trek

Today, we climb up for an hour to reach Kimrungdanda enjoying the great views of Annapurna south, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna and Fish Tail (Machhapuchhre). We take a steep descend to Kimrong Khola and make another steep climb to reach Chere Danda. Further, we climb down for sometimes and make a
gentle walk to reach Chhomrong. Chhomrong is a charming village located at the lap Annapurna giants.

Day 04: Chhomrong - Bamboo (2310m/7578ft) – 4/5 hours trek

After breakfast, we descend via 2500 step stone staircase and cross the bridge of Chhomrong Khola. Further, we hike up to Sinuwa and follow the route of beautiful forest to Kuldihar and finally make down walk to reach Bamboo.

Day 05: Bamboo – Deurali (3,230m/10,600ft) – 3/4 hours trek

Today, we walk via bamboo forest which is damp and cold and further make a climb through steep section. After reaching Himalayan Hotel, the forest ends up and we are out of sun with spectacular view of glacial river below. The trail further traverses through drier section of forest until Hinku cave. From here, the trip drops down towards river before climbing up to Deurali. The vegetation changes into scrub and the views becomes more magnificent with closer view of ice giants.

Day 06: Deurali – Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m/13,545ft) via Machhapucchre Base Camp (3,700m/12,135ft) – 5/6 hours trek

Today, the trail climbs up through the river bed and joins the steep trail over to the mountain side. The hike to Macchapucchre Base Camp from Bagar is quite arduous. From Macchapucchre Base Camp, we can enjoy the amazing view of Machhapucchre along with Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli and Gangapurna. It is truly rewarding experience. The vegetation vanishes on the way to ABC and the trekking route widens up as we enter in to Annapurna sanctuary. From ABC, we can catch the excellent views of near-vertical south face of Annapurna towering above us. Moreover, the gigantic view of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli and other peaks can be enjoyed from Annapurna Base Camp.

Day 07: Annapurna Base Camp – Bamboo – 7/8 hours trek

After early morning sunrise view and breakfast, we retrace our step back to Bamboo. Today’s trail is majorly concerns a downhill section so the walking is not difficult today.

Day 08: Bamboo – Jhinu Danda (1,760m/5,770ft) – 5/6 hours trek

From Bamboo, we climb up to Khuldighar followed by downhill hike to Chhomrong Khola. We then ascend up to Chhomrong village via stone steps. The trial further climbs down to Jhinu Danda, where we rest overnight. At Jhinu Danda, we relax our tired legs at natural hot spring which is located at 15-20 minutes downhill walk from Jhinu Danda.

Day 09: Jhinu Danda – Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara – 6 hours trek/1.5 hour drive

From Jhinu Danda, we hike down to Nayapul enjoy the amazing landscapes and cultural villages. We take our lunch on the way. Our ABC trek ends at Nayapul where we board our vehicle to Pokhara.

Day 10: Fly from Pokhara – Kathmandu

Today, we take off from Pokhara in the afternoon. After arriving in Kathmandu, we drive to our hotel and take rest for a while. We enjoy leisure day at Kathmandu exploring the bustling city Thamel and catching last minute shopping. You can also explore Shayambhunath and Darbar Square which is few minute drive from your hotel. In evening, we attend the farewell dinner organized by Alpine Kailash to celebrate the successful completion of the trek.

Day 11: Final Departure

You journey in Nepal ends today. You escorted to Tribhuvan International Airport for your final departure. If you wish, you can plan your next Nepal adventure.
