Tibet Shisapangama Trek

After breakfast, we set for city exploration and sightseeing tour. We explore Pashupatinath Temple – the sacred Hindu Temple residing on the bank of Bagmati River, Boudhanath Stupa- the largest Stupa in Nepal and Swayambhunath Stupa- the 2,000 years old monkey temple soaring at the top of lofty hillock.

If time permits, we visit UNESCO designated Patan Durbar Square- the oldest city in Kathmandu valley, Durbar Square, Krishna temple and many monumental sites.

Breakfast

After breakfast, our trip starts with scenic drive through lush and verdant landscapes for nearly 123km to Kodari. After completing necessary immigration and custom formalities, we drive along the way to Nyalam.

On the way, we will encounter several mountain passes and valleys using a system of steep switchbacks and also through a mossy gully with stunning waterfalls.

Today we set a day aside for proper acclimatization to higher altitude and admire the great beauty of Nyalam. We make an easy hike to visit Nyalam Pelgye Ling, a small temple close to the town.

After breakfast, we proceed for challenging trek as we move out of town along Tshongde Phu River Valley. You can either choose a shorter day and trek directly to your campsite at Draabochan or take a pilgrimage trek to Tara Tsho Lake.

On the way, you can make steep climb over the ridge to have the fascinating glimpse of calm lake.

It is believed that the lake was formed by the melting of the single large piece of ice that a Lama carried from Mt. Kailash. The lake is decorated with enchanting prayer flags and stone monuments at its bank. Stay overnight at tented camp.

Today we climb over the top of the ridge. The trail follows the forested route of rhododendron with tantalizing views provide the sense of paradise. Spend overnight at tented camp in Shingdip.

After early morning quick breakfast, we follow the western route and climb up the ridge once more. You can enjoy the spectacular Jugal Himal on the way. After two hours of walk, we reach the Base Camp that serves the massive view of Shishapangama.

Here we spend plenty of time to visit glacial lakes and boulder plateaus which is provide you a life-time experience. After hiking for short time, we advanced base camp. Overnight at tented camp.

After spending some quality time at BC, we retrace our step back to Draabochhan walking through the meadows, rhododendron cluster and enjoying the great views of Jugal Himal. Overnight at tented camp.

After breakfast, we continue retracing our step back to Nyalam via Tshongde Phu river valley. Stay overnight at hotel in Nyalam.

Today we leave Nyalam behind and drive towards Lhatse enjoying the contrast of landscapes from lush lower hill to barren Tibetan Plateau.

En route, we discover many high mountain passes including Lalung La. The pass exhibits the great views of Mt. Everest and whole Himalayan ranges. Overnight at hotel in Lhatse.

After breakfast, we proceed for Shigatse and cross the Gyatsmo La, the highest pass of the trip which makes our visit more exciting. En route, we visit string of quiet monasteries and nomadic herders. Overnight at hotel in Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet after Lhasa.

Today, we make a short drive to catch glimpse of Tashihunpo Monastery, the largest operating monasteries left in Tibet. Visiting this monastery is the first true experience of Tibetan culture. At Gyantse, we explore Gyantse Dzong and Kumbum.

The great view of valley can be enjoyed from the ancient Dzong fort. Kumbum will amaze you with its ancient murals and architecture and it is more than stupa as it is surrounded by numerous Tibetan murals and small chapel houses.

Today we drive from Gyantse to Lhasa driving over Karo La Pass. Daunting glacier is seen so close from the pass. Furthermore, you will be able to catch the enchanting views of several small town and spectacular lake of Yamdrok-tso. The day end in Lhasa with comfortable night at hotel.

After breakfast, we proceed for sightseeing of Lhasa that includes Potala Palace, Norbulingka Palace and Tibet Traditional Hospital. Potala Palace, the legendary palace built in 17th century, offers enchanting views of entire city and houses the resident of Dalai Lama, grand state rooms and chapels.

Norbulingka Palace, the summer residence of Dalai Lama is the largest man-made garden in Tibet. We also visit the Tibet Traditional Hospital which the major hub of treatment, training, research and production of medicine.

After breakfast, we set to explore the iconic and historical landmarks of Lhasa that includes Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, Jokhang Monastery and Barkhor Street. Drepung Monastery built in 14th century once used to the home for 10,000 monks but as of now the number have been declined to few hundreds. Sera Monastery, another important monastery in Lhasa, is white-washed walls and golden roofs. Jokhang Temple, the revered shrine, exhibits the deep-seated mysteries in Tibetan Buddhism.

In late noon, we stroll around the quaint street of Barkhor Bazaar. It is center for open air stalls, shops and crowds of pilgrims.

Your 16 days Tibet Shishapangama Trek comes to an end today. Our airport representative will drive you back to Tirbhuvan International Airport for your final departure.
