Mardi Himal Trek is perfect for those seeking for “beaten off” trekking experience in less-trodden part of Annapurna region. It is relatively untouched and probably less frequented trekking peaks in Nepal. Located just east of popular Annapurna Base Camp Trek, Mardi Himal trekking is truly a hidden gem.
The trekking trail to Mardi Himal follows small winding paths and forested route of miraculous rhododendron until we climb high up the forest at an elevation of 3,300m. The landscapes during the trek changes suddenly; from lush green forest to rugged high mountain landscapes with stunning view of giant peaks like Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre (fish tail), Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. The trail negotiates several steep ridges and after some strenuous climb, we reach High Camp and Mardi Himal Base Camp on the following day. The complete panorama of Annapurna rage is visible from the upper view point, located 3 hours beyond from Mardi Himal Base Camp.
There are basic teahouse and homestays along the Mardi Himal trekking route. Alpine Kailash offer both teahouse and camping mode trekking with professional team of guide and porter and all the necessary equipment.
Best season
The best season to trek Mardi Himal is mid-September to November during autumn and March to May during spring. The sky remains clear and views are excellent. If wish to trek in December to February, we suggest you to check the availability of teahouse as it remains closed in winter due to extreme cold and snowfall.
Outline Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)
Day 02: Kathmandu – Pokhara (827m/2,700ft) – 6-7 hours trek
Day 03: Drive: Kathmandu – Phedi and trek to Deurali (2,100m/6,720ft) – 30 minute drive, 4-5 hours trek
Day 04: Deurali – Forest Camp (2,520m/8,064ft) – 6-7 hours trek
Day 05: Forest Camp – Low Camp (2,970m/9,504ft) – 5-6 hours trek
Day 06: Low Camp – High Camp (3,540m/11,328ft) – 3-4 hours trek
Day 07: High Camp – Upper Viewpoint (4,250m/13,600ft) and trek back to High Camp – 2-3 hours trek
Day 08: High Camp – Sidhing Village (1,700m/5,440ft) – 6-7 hours trek
Day 09: Sidhing – Lumre and drive to Pokhara. Fly to Kathmandu- 2-3 hour trek/2 hour drive and 25 min flight
