Jomolhari Trek is one of most spectacular treks in Bhutan. With altitudinal difference of 2,500m and 5,000m, it covers wide climatic zone, bio-diversity and geography ranging from lush farmland to sub-tropical forest and alpine barren land. The grand view of Mount Jomolhari from Jomolhari Base Camp is the key highlights of the trek.
Jomolhari Trek follows the yak herders and lush meadows valleys on its way to Jumolhari Base Camp. You will hike through the lush pine forests, scattered hamlets and alpine meadows that leads us to high pastureland where yak herders graze their animals.
The trail continues through enchanting valley flanked with fascinating peaks to the base of Mount Jomolhari and its spike shaped companion, Jichu Drake. The trail also negotiates some challenging high passes which offers awe-inspiring views of famous mountains and valley underneath. Nearly the entire trek follows the small portion of Jigme Singye National Park.
Jomolhari is sacred mountain to Tibetan Buddhists who believe it as the home to Five Tsheringma Sisters. Since Jomolhari is sacred and abode of goddess, Bhutanese believed that it is impossible to climb and anyone who climbed too high would be thrown down.
Jomolhari Trek in Bhutan is great exploration journey for trekkers who seeks to visit the remote part of eastern Himalayan range while enjoying pristine nature with rare glimpse of alpine wildlife and observing the authentic Bhutanese life along with arts and crafts.
Rated as “averagely difficult trail”, any avid trekkers with moderate fitness level can join in to make it a life time experience. Though trekking to Jomolhari is possible to conduct throughout the year, spring (March to May) and autumn (September to October) are the time of the year for the trek. The months of April and May holds great natural grandeur with blooming rhododendron and also observes its biggest festival during the spring.

Day 12: Drive: Thimpu – Punakha (80km/2.30 hour drive)
